• Utilize multiple sources to maintain effective vendor base to procure necessary commodities.• Input purchase orders and shop orders into system to ensure required product is on hand when needed.• Utilize MRP and Kanban systems to release orders to vendors in a timely manner.• Develop detailed knowledge of assigned product families and related commodities.• Monitor purchasing metrics of turns and months on hand by product family, inventory, line fill, shipped complete on time and covered/not covered for assigned commodities.• Monitor and act on exception reports to achieve required customer satisfaction and inventory requirements by SKU.• Work with vendors on lead time and delivery improvements.• Review internal quality reports for assigned commodities and take necessary action including working with Quality team and vendors to correct or replace product.• Work with Customer Service and Marketing to optimize company performance for inventory and service levels.• Prepare and deliver necessary reports as required by management.• Review current processes and reports for potential improvements to achieve best practices.• Work with various members of Supply Chain group and on cross functional teams to achieve company goals.• May lead or direct the work of less senior Buyers.

Company moved from manufacturing to DC with product coming in retail ready from offshore suppliers. Worked closely with our new China suppliers on our items specs, quantities needed and accurate delivery dates.

Responsible for 4 depts and over 100 employees. managed the shipping dept, our component stock room, our rail dept and packaging dept. Responsible for production meeting their goals and shipments at 98% fill with 97% accuracy.
