Germany, Kosovo, Iraq, (Jan 2001-Jun 2003) Leadership of one of the Army’s most powerful fighting units and command of an overseas garrison of 12000 soldiers and families. On operations in Kosovo, commanded a multinational force of over 7000 drawn from seven nations to counter terrorism, deter aggression and deliver security sector reform in Kosovo’s major conurbation. In 2003, leadership of 7th Armoured Brigade during the initial war fighting in Southern Iraq and subsequent post conflict reconstruction.Made companion of the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) and appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).
