I strive to accomplish business goals by building and improving software systems. In doing so, I relish the opportunity to learn new skills and to strengthen old ones, and the camaraderie of working with others to solve difficult challenges.Of the roles that I can play, I feel most confident in my ability to contribute to a web application as an engineer. Over my career, though, I have come to appreciate that software is primarily about people. Software is written by people, for people. The feelings and goals of people are always at the root of any project. So in doing technical work I strive to empathize with my team and my users and to remember that software is not just about the computer, but about us.Beyond work, what drives me? Well, on Saturday morning, you'll find me paddling out at Ocean Beach. Also on Sunday. Maybe even Wednesday if I get up early enough and the swell is good. I really like surfing.
