I create and teach hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) lessons pertaining to climate science for elementary and middle school students. By exposing my students to a variety of social justice topics, I aim to instill in them compassion for those experiencing these issues; as well as, stewardship and passion for improving their community.

I provided my students with online learning resources that were specific to their needs. In the case that I could not find adequate resources, I would create documents with diagrams or step-by-step explanations for them. These learning resources improved student understanding, assisted them in completing their assignments, and resulted in higher test scoresI built strong rapport with students and parents by sending an email after each session detailing student progress. I also maintained open lines of communication through phone and email.

Phoenix, Arizona Area

I collected groundwater samples at multiple projects sites, including two Superfund sites, using HydraSleeveTM, and dedicated and portable pumps for low-flow and well-volume purging. I also collected soil and soil gas samples for Phase II ESAs, prepared them for laboratory delivery under chain of custody, and created field sample keys.I calibrated and operated field monitoring and sensing equipment including photoionization detectors (PIDs), multi-parameter groundwater meters, and water/oil interface probes.I maintained groundwater well datasheets and hydrographs on Microsoft Excel with information from monthly monitoring events.I completed quality checks on data tables and figures for client memorandums and monthly operation reports.I trained in emergency response action and documentation for fuel spills near water runoff locations in local airports.I employed communication and problem-solving skills during subcontractor oversight to ensure that scopes of work were met.

Created educational art pieces to display throughout an exhibit on environmental sustainability at the San Diego Del Mar County Fair. Maintained polyculture and hugelkultur landscapes with 50+ crops. Learned about vermicompost and soil management techniques for use in urban gardens.

Achievements:The internship culminated in a mock housing project presentation to a panel of mock city council members in which I requested a $6 million residual loan for the development of a housing project in CHW's pipeline. The presentation included a project summary, renderings, and a financial proforma. My housing project was symbolically awarded the loan for being well-presented, financially sound, and rich in amenities for tenants earning 30-60% of the area median income.Responsibilities:Assisted project managers with documenting punch list work, photo logging, and obtaining quotes for FF&E. Attended site visits; OAC meetings; and trainings on construction permitting and insurance, ESAs, and property title.Assessed architectural and engineering plans, and as-built drawings for compliance with fire, storm water and utility regulations.Compiled contract close out documents, and prepared final project documents for permanent storage in external warehouse. Processed and tracked schedule changes, change order requests, purchase orders and subcontractor invoices, ensuring timely contractor payments.Assembled binders for responding to RFI’s, RFP’s, and RFQ’s.
