Last year, scraped 4000+ tweets from R to create a dataset of candidate tweets from competitive districts in the month leading up to the election. Analyzed how candidates spread messages on Twitter. Won 1st place in Mary Lou Fulton Undergraduate Research Conference and research was presented at Midwestern Political Science Association Conference in Chicago in April 2023.

Coauthoring research paper on the meaning and measurement of Christian nationalism. Assistant on papers covering topics such as deliberative norms and citizenship as well as the use of AI in the social sciences. Utilizes Stata and R to clean large data sets as well as perform methods including factor analysis, regression analysis (OLS, multinomial, logit, probit), item response theory, and more. Learned many of these methods quickly and independently. Conducts extensive literature reviews. Writes succinct research memos to adequately explain results for professors to reference when drafting research papers.Drafts public opinion survey questions.

Met with client to understand project goals, designed questionnaire, conducted focus groups to refine questions, programmed survey using Qualtrics. Cleaned and analyzed results in Stata, collaborating with professor to design index measure of principled citizenship. Design 50+ slide deck to present complex results in an easily digestible way and provide actionable recommendations to non-profit for future advertising campaigns. Use feedback from non-profit directors to refine the slides to be most helpful for them.

Studied effect of positive leadership experience on women’s desire for political office. Designed randomization of study, created survey and coded in Qualtrics, cleaned and analyzed raw data from the field in R, wrote 20 page research paper.

Collaborated with professor and fellow TA’s to maximize the learning of Political Science 328: Statistical Analysis students. Taught quantitative research skills, including probability, hypothesis testing, linear and non-linear regression models, and probit/logit regression models. Quickly problem-solved and patiently assisted 110 students in 8 weekly office hours. Planned a 1 hour weekly lab session personalized to a group of 10-15 students to teach the coding language Stata.

Chosen out of 21 students on a Washington, DC internship program to be a student leader and liaison between the program professor, building manager, and students to coordinate weekly class and monthly trips, distribute information, and ensure safety.Developed a weekly cleaning checklist, delegated roles, and checked results to ensure compliance. Wrote and delivered professional introductions for guest speakers in weekly classes.

Quickly became fluent in Orton-Gillingham teaching methods and created customized lesson plans based on students needs, seeing 15% increases in the phonics students were able to recognize and use correctly.

Analyzed results in Stata and created visualizations to present complex findings in an easily digestible and visually pleasing manner to all audiences using Data Wrapper. Embraced a larger role than most interns by authoring “Facts and Figures” portion of Center website, including eye-catching charts along with 150-word captions, to attract more website readership.

Greeted and assisted over 500 employees and customers weekly both in person and over the phone, including checking-in employees while under Covid-19 restrictions. Coordinated schedules for 5 company conference rooms and 3 company cars.
