Student Intern
CurrentI am undertaking a remote placement with the ASRC one day a week in their Human Rights Law Program. This opportunity is allowing me to continue developing core skills for my legal career, and build upon knowledge gained from study and my position at IMCL. It was a challenge to commence in a new role without physical training, however, my resilience and skills transferable from other employment positions assisted me in making this adjustment. At the ASRC, my work is associated with protection visa and bridging visa applications and includes:• File management.• File noting.• Interviewing clients.• Taking instructions from clients.• Drafting client statements.• Preparing statutory declarations for use in applications for bridging visas.• Assisting clients to complete Form 1005 and Form 1505.• Assisting clients to renew their temporary protection visas upon expiry.• Organising and liaising with interpreters and interpreter services.• Upholding client confidentiality, and sensitive / personal information.• Diary management / scheduling of appointments and meetings.• Working closely with a partner to manage and complete tasks.
