A clinical internship at North York General Hospital (NYGH) providing patient-centered care to a culturally diverse community within an inpatient acute care setting. The opportunity to work on different units has provided me with a greater variety of experiences in working with patients, ranging from middle to late adulthood, of different conditions. These conditions include but not limited to Parkinson's Disease, delirium, stroke, cerebral palsy, and total hip and knee arthroplasty.• Worked under minimal supervision of the Physiotherapist and Physiotherapist Assistant in the cardiology, orthopedics, and acute geriatric care inpatient units.• Assisted and supervised patients with their bed exercises following their total knee or hip arthroplasty. • Assisted Physiotherapist with treatment interventions, including gait and balance training, stairs training, transfers, range of motion exercises, bed exercises. • Completed daily progress reports on assigned patient caseload through PowerChart. • Maintained and sanitized gait aids and equipment at the end of each treatment session.• Monitored patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation, before, throughout, and after treatment interventions.• Interprofessional collaboration with other health care providers within patients' circle of care.

An introductory clinical placement at One Kenton Place (OKP), a long-term care facility providing personalized, individualized, and innovative care for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. OKP focuses on maintaining and encouraging one's independence in their activities of daily living. • Worked collaboratively with the Occupational Therapist (OT) and Occupational Therapist Assistant in providing gait and transfer training and passive range of motion exercises to residents of OKP within a dementia care setting. • Assigned a caseload of 5 residents to follow.• Facilitated and engaged residents during the morning exercise program, and assisted individual residents on their activities of daily living to maintain cognitive and physical skills and abilities. • Completed daily clinical documentation and log sheets that are reviewed by the OT at the end of the day. • Prepare residents' gait aids, including 2-wheeled walkers, high wheel walkers, and rollators.
