Saint Gobain Weber is a part of the Saint Gobain brand, the world leader in the habitat and construction markets. I was offered this paid internship after a competitive selection process. During this time I worked in the Quality Control and Assurance team. This role involved: Regularly liaising with external suppliers to acquire technical and safety data sheets of each raw material used in the manufacturing process. The required information was then extrapolated and inputted into a new raw materials database to be used across the company. This task allowed me to demonstrate my proficiency in data handling and Microsoft Excel. Preparing and analysing data to be introduced into QPulse, a new data management software, that is currently being implemented across the whole company. Playing an active role in the daily operations meetings. These involved members from each department within the company in which current operational and production problems were discussed and solutions devised.

As part of my Master’s degree, I conducted an independent research project in the Inorganic Chemistry department at the University of Barcelona. I assisted the Catalytic Materials research team working towards synthesising a more environmentally sustainable catalyst for introduction into carbon dioxide conversion, with potential future use in refineries and other chemical manufacturing processes. This placement required: Strategically planning and executing experiments to test hypotheses and closely analysing data on a daily basis to work towards the best solution. Regularly presenting my research to groups of professors and students where I was required to explain and justify my findings. This has been excellent grounding for my management, research, presentation and analytical abilities.
