As a young Nurse I take great pride in achieving a band 6 Senior sister and Charge Nurse role at the age of 23. My main passion is major trauma, in my current role I run a 19 bed major trauma unit recently achieving ‘excellent’ status for quality of patient care. My ward is one of the most highly rated specialist units in the country and is an essential part of the London Trauma Network. I work in a very fast paced environment alongside a large MDT, including trauma, orthopaedics neurosurgery plastics and vascular specialists, to provide treatment and care to the most vulnerable and highly injured patients in north London.My role involves managing patients from the point of trauma call to discharge; managing bed numbers, staffing levels and skill mix, admissions, discharges and treating the most injured and vulnerable patients in their time of need.
