In this lab, under Dr. Trevor Cardinal's guidance we are examining how blood flow of skeletal muscles is effected by arteriogenesis initiated by injected fibroblasts. The goal of this research is to contribute to the development of a cell-based therapy that can treat peripheral artery disease. As a member of the surgical team I am responsible for performing various in-vivo procedures including femoral artery ligation, perfusion fixation, and casting. I am also trained in lab safety and animal test-subject ethics.

Mentored by Dr. Alan Zhang of the Mechanical Engineering Department I was a member of a student research team working on designing an upper-limb, tensegrity-based exoskeleton. Throughout the course of this project I performed an extensive review of literature where I examined the current role of social justice and DEI in engineering. I then transferred this knowledge to shape our design framework to ensure that we were utilizing a user-centric design framework that would allow us to manufacture an equitable and sustainable design.
