PMT has been in operation for approximately 16 years. We started out as a specialist electricity metering company supplying metering products and services such as an accredited meter calibration laboratory. Our primary focus has, however, shifted to becoming a metering service provider. Outside of the National Utility (Eskom) we are by far the largest provider of metering services in the country. We have developed and operate an automatic metering system that is Internet based (www.meteringonline.com) and essentially our business model is that we provide these services to our clients for a fixed monthly fee.

Eskom is the South African national electricity utility. I joined Eskom as a young engineer in training in 1981.After completing my academic studies I accepted a full-time position in the metering and measurement section in the Transmission department of Eskom. My duties included research and development into the then fledgling electronic metering technology and later to managing and designing metering systems and related infrastructure for the Transmission department.
