My role involves personally managing two complex equipment contracts as well as managing a team of 6 other contract managers delivering a further 14 Cat-A equipment packs. These contracts involve a mix of commercial, engineering and equipment deliverables for a multi-year warship build programme. Some of my achievements whilst at BAE include -• Converted an initial six-month contract role with BAE into a full-time position and have since been promoted twice within the supply chain function to more responsibility.• Received a personal letter of thanks from our MoD customer for leading our suppliers and procurement team through the pandemic, implementing safe working processes for our suppliers in yard and delivering a ship commissioning programme on schedule and on budget despite lockdown.• Implemented a new process to manage cost, using my skills in Excel and ERM to accurately map contract commitments, purchase orders and accounts paid; the output saves time and improves forecast accuracy. Delivered a training pack on same to the function (>100 people). Successfully recovered £200k in claims for supplier non-performance in last 12 months.

In order to explore a desire to run my own business I left GE and started a company from scratch, combining an interest in internet commerce with specialist wine sales. A demanding few years where I did every job in the company – sales, marketing, finance, IT, purchasing – and a great experience.

I was tasked with transforming a procurement team that was held to be the cause of frequent downtime in manufacturing – my objectives were to minimise shortages and increase material profitability. Complexity came from four different Avionics manufacturing plants on site with poor material controls, 8000+ live components and a team of 14 buyers and 2 category managers with overlapping responsibilities.Achievements -• Led as procurement stakeholder leader on a major IT implementation of P2P, centralising invoice payments for multiple sites and automating buyer sign off processes• Led a joint Procurement & Manufacturing project to implement direct line feed – nearly 4000 C class components outsourced to two key suppliers with e-procurement and Kanban• Procurement savings of over £1m a year from my team were a major contributor to site profitability three years in a row
