At AEL environment we're focused on providing efficient and comprehensive site assessment and environmental remediation. We do everything from simple, investigative Phase 1's to full, O.Reg. 153 compliant, Records of Site Condition. Our portfolio also includes landfill monitoring and compliance, as well as specialized, individual GIS projects.My role as GIS Coordinator is to provide the backbone of Data Management for all projects in the office. Built on this data is a suite of visualization tools to present site data both internally (for analytical investigation) and externally (for improved client communication). Tasks like site pre-visualization, ground water contouring, and chemical hotspot delineation are standard. Field work is a necessity that compliments any GIS, and site visits that include sub-centimetre RTK surveying are also part of the job.Additionally, special projects include the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to capture high resolution (5cm) stereoscopic imagery, which also allows for Elevation Model generation. These tools are especially useful in landfill monitoring, to easily capture slopes and elevations over very large, active sites.

During and after my Master's, assisting graduate students, faculty and staff at Queen's University with multi-disciplinary map making and data analysis. Project themes include aboriginal settlements in Quebec, cultural delineation of the Northern/Southern Ontario boundary and historical watershed delineation and disturbance in the Adirondack Park.Most Recent Project: A 10-week contract in partnership with the University of Ottawa and Yukon College examining discrepancies in IPCC climate projections for the Yukon and Northern British Columbia. The project is data-heavy, working to compare dozens of scenarios and models in a mainly raster-based approach.

Kingston, Ontario

Ran lab sections, lectured, set assignments and marked for courses ranging from basic to advanced GIS and Remote Sensing. Research Assistant-ships centred around small research projects relating to larger-scale LiDAR/Forestry/Remote Sensing projects of my adviser.

Alert, Nunavut

Performed atmospheric monitoring of pollutants and naturally occurring compounds. Adhered to strict protocol regarding sample collection and filter changes. Lived and worked in a harsh environment of 24 hours of darkness and daylight and extreme temperatures.

Waterloo, Ontario

Carried out diverse hydrologic fieldwork, from passive system monitoring to active subsurface experimentation. Beta tested and troubleshot a new telemetry system in conjunction with Solinst. Created a comprehensive well and access tube inventory with accompanying custom GIS map products.

Ottawa, Ontario

Quantified crop residue cover through the correlation of satellite imagery and ground data. Planned and took part in the Fall 2007 field campaign. Created dozens of custom maps for collaborating producers. Involved personnel management and public consultation.

Waterloo, Ontario

Worked on multiple visualization projects relating to the new Light Rail Transit and several heritage preservation projects. Functioned independently to troubleshoot any software or hardware issues relating to the custom infrastructure and innovative programs.
