Short Bio Grant SmithI have spent 41 years working within the Electrical Industry, covering all facets of Underground Cable installations from 1kV through to 172kV whilst working in New Zealand the Pacific Islands and Australia.From 1977 to 1992 I worked at Hutt Valley Power & Gas Board carrying out installations covering all voltages from 1kV to 33kV oil/gas/solid & XLPE.From 1992 to 1997 I worked as a Raychem Technical Service Engineer, from 1997 to 2008 as a Technical Marketing Manager promoting Huber+Suhner , Elastimold / Euromold , Elcon Megarad cable accessories providing product training and carrying out installations throughout New Zealand & Pacific Islands, and was a member of the ESITO Cable Jointing organizing committee for the first of the Cable Jointers Competition and a ESITO Registered Assessor regarding Cable Jointer assessment to Unit Standards.In 2008 I Joined ABB Australia (Kabeldon)being involved with product support and Jointer training & Certification for MV to EHV installations also worked as a Project Engineer in WA Pilbara Region overseeing the installation of MV and HV cabling and terminations / Joints to 132kV.I returned to PPHV of ABB in 2012 focusing on technical support and training of High Voltage and Extra High Voltage Cable Jointers.In 2014 I moved to the position of Technical Manager for Legend Power providing support for the in house Power Joint range.In October 2016 I joined PLP New Zealand as Senior Technical Manager Cable Accessories for BBC CellPack cable Accessories <36kV product range to Power Broads, Electrical Consultants plus training programs for Contractors and Cable Jointers within ANZ & Pacific Islands.After a three Month Restraint of Trade 27th September to 31st December 2018, I joined Hamer Power Engineering January 2019 as Technical Specialist,Cable Accessories & Solutions focused primary on NKT Cable Accessories Medium to Extra High Voltage inclusive of LPOF,Low Pressure Oil / Gas inline and Stop Joints as well as providing full Technical support and product training of the Full range of XLPE Cable Accessories <132kV.I am experienced in the installation of all Major brands of cable accessories .BBC CellPack, BICC,NKT / NKT Kabeldon, , Raychem, 3M, Sudkababel, Pfisterer, Elastimold, Euromold throughout ANZ & Pacific Islands.
