It is also illegal to retaliate/ discriminate against a person because the person complained about discrimination, filed a charge of discrimination, or participated in an employment discrimination investigation or lawsuit.• Preparing and litigating employment discrimination cases under all of the federal statues enforced by the EEOC including: - reviewing charge files and recommending the initiation of litigation; - filing petitions for compliance with administrative subpoenas; - seeking temporary injunctive relief; - filing motions to obtain compliance with court orders, decrees, and pre-suit settlement agreements; - prosecuting cases to ensure consistency with EEOC litigation policies and judicial precedents; - conducting discovery for litigation in federal court; - preparing and presenting motions, responses and oral arguments to the courts; - preparing pretrial and post-trial briefs and materials; - conducting all facets of trials in federal courts; and - providing formal and informal legal advice and memoranda to agency personnel. • Licensed to practice law in all Missouri state and federal courts, Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, Supreme Court of the United States, U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Also a Veterans Affairs Accredited Attorney.

Also directly represented clients in civil liberties cases in municipal court, state circuit court, state appellate court, the Supreme Court of Missouri. • Representative lawsuits included both constitutional and statutory claims under the First Amendment (free speech, assembly, association, religious liberty), Fourth Amendment search and seizure, Fifth/Fourteenth Amendment due process, Eighth Amendment, Equal Protection, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), prison conditions, reproductive rights, government transparency, same sex marriage, and voting rights.• Appointed class counsel in five (5) federal civil liberties class action lawsuits.• Awarded a 2014 Missouri Lawyers Weekly “Up & Coming Award” for Public Service.
