Intern, Project Engineering
Co-Op - Instrumentation
Supported the design of sensors for structural health monitoring (SHM) of various projects. My work primarily focused on establishing the test assembly and software loading of a large sensor network for a particular project. As I worked on this task, I developed new skills and knowledge related to electrical connections, systems and design; enclosure standards and mounting techniques; engineering design techniques including GD&T and tolerance analysis; and installation/data monitoring for sensors on-site.In this role, I was the sole co-op student, providing great opportunities to take on new challenges and develop my professional skillset. I enjoyed the technical rigour of this role and using my critical thinking skills to find solutions to hurdles that presented themselves along the way.
Mechanical Engineering Intern
Worked as part of the Engineering Services team on the migration of legacy components from an old PDM system to a new, custom PDM system while ensuring documentation standards were met. This work involved remaking components, large assemblies, and drawings (part, production, assembly, etc.) with SolidWorks.I also worked on redlining structural drawings, sourcing and using engineering standards, and helping to resolve internal support tickets.
Materials Lab And Field Technician
Student materials testing position whereby I could use my fundamental knowledge of geotechnical engineering classifications and practices to verify the quality of construction work completed - ensuring adherence to design specifications. My work focused on construction monitoring, client consultation, and materials testing services for concrete (CCIL A23.1 certified), soils, and asphalt using standardized methods.- Conducted lab testing of concrete, asphalt, and soil materials using industry-standard methods such as the Proctor compaction test, nuclear densitometer testing, Marshall testing, sieve analysis, and compression testing of casted concrete specimen.- Consulted with client representatives such as site foremen to ensure accurate testing results and to meet project requirements.- Provided nuclear densitometer testing as well as concrete testing (slump, air content, viscosity, and casting of cylinders/grout cubes) services for client projects.- Maintained a high degree of readiness and flexibility to be prepared for changing demands and unexpected site or lab work that might arise throughout the day.- Regularly worked extended hours and weekends to meet the demand of business and support the team's success as a whole.- Created an Excel spreadsheet in consultation with supervising engineer in order to provided a standardized way for future co-op students to accurately determine correction-factors for improperly sized concrete cylinders/cores as per CSA - A23.2 section 9C guidelines.
Bar Back
Supported the bar team by maintaining stock of beverages, preparing drink garnishes, and creating partial drink batches to increase efficiency of bartending team service. Also helped to fulfill other roles in the restaurant such as being a host, serving food, taking orders, closing bills, and providing a high level of hospitality. Learned how to pour beers on-tap and make basic cocktails towards the end of my role in order to further support the bar team during very hectic nights.
Welcome Desk Reprenstative
Responsible for greeting members and helping them with the creation and management of their membership, booking rentals, as well as processing transactions. Additionally, I was responsible for responding to incidents via following procedure and getting help from qualified personnel.
Sales Associate
Responsible for assisting customers, assembling display models, receiving inventory, as well as working to support a positive and strong team dynamic.
Sales Associate
Seasonal position that required me to provide excellent customer service while working diligently during a busy atmosphere.
