A passionate belief in equity has made me a servant of the public health sector over the last 20 years. I have always enjoyed the collaborative struggle to create that service model, that referral pathway, that unique program which increases access to care for a hard-to-reach population group or improves service outcomes in a chronic condition. etc. Never mind the wins are infrequent, hard won and harder maintained, the people you meet and the communities you engage with make the struggle worth all the effort.I began my career practicing as a Physiotherapist focusing on service delivery to marginalised communities. Over latter years I moved to management overseeing large multidisciplinary teams that covered Aged Care, Allied health, Mental Health, Aboriginal Health and homelessness. I always encourage staff to be industrious, innovative, resilient, ambitious and collaborative. In these spaces building connections and having programs working synergistically is everything.
