Independent Business Owner
CurrentComputers have come to be seen as the necessary evil in many offices around the world. They play such a critical role, yet have an annoying habit of dying at the most inopportune times. Many companies accept that this is just how things are, and look to replace “aging” systems on a regular basis, or just put up with degraded performance as they grow older. I am hoping this is where I can help.I have over 20 years in the IT industry – working with and for software development companies, large scale data centres, IT consulting firms specializing in security, planning, project management, and also as a private contractor dealing with the IT needs of small to medium sized businesses. I have always gotten the most enjoyment out of the last in that list. I love making technology work well for the small/medium sized business. These businesses are typically large enough to have a significant investment and reliance upon technology, but too small to have a full time IT person in their budget. My focus gives those companies the best of both worlds. I want to build a relationship, get to know all the technological needs of these businesses and offer the services of an internal IT department at a fraction of the cost. I build these relationships with maintenance contracts. I don’t want to be on the other end of the phone just for when the “Server has crashed”. I believe that with proper planning and maintenance, these emergencies can be greatly reduced. With a maintenance contract I can be on-site performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, planning, and upgrades on a regular basis. This allows me to catch small problems before they become much larger and disruptive to your business. It is sometimes not the most glamourous work, but sometimes the important work isn’t. In addition to routine maintenance, I also focus on security of your network, performance of your network, documentation, upgrade planning, training employees on application usage.
