Having been at the school since September 2014, I am now into my third year of teaching. Having spent two years in Y5, I am now currently a Year 6 teacher. This year I have been given the responsibility of looking at character education within the school and implementing a range of activities to embed this throughout the curriculum. My teaching responsibilities mean I plan and teach a wide range of children, including those with EAL needs and specific needs ( e.g. Down's syndrome). Other projects I've been involved with during my time at the school include being part of the maths team throughout the school, looking at how to successful implement a mastery curriculum and how best to assess based on the new curriculum objectives. I was also part of the a working party looking at how to engage children in science throughout the school- implementing a scheme 'empiribox'. The scheme is relatively new to the school and I am continuing to monitor the impact of the scheme at a whole-school level.During my first year of teaching, I was one of four teachers to take part in a reading trial which aimed to improved comprehension and children's wider understanding of a range of genres. This trial was a success and ultimately helped to launch the current project adopted by both our own school and the other school in the partnership.
