Duties include, curriculum assessment, faculty assignment, text review and acquisition, program development, recruitment of new students, student counseling, teaching, budget control and creation and other aspects related to growing the horticulture program to become the premier education opportunity in the region.

As chairman of the commission, I and my fellow commission members review commercial developement plans proposed for location within the city. We assess the quality of the the design elements and look for possible negative impacts that the development may create for neighboring property owners. If identified, we recommend alternatives to reduce or mitigate those impacts.
