Responsible for handling QSE duties for Luminant QSE in the ERCOT marketplace. Manage the generating units and real time position for Luminant in the ERCOT Interconnection.

Supervise the reliable operation of the ERCOT electric system and compliance with the ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides, including applicable operating and market guides and NERC Reliability Standards.Supervise a crew of six system operators and one on shift engineer.Schedule work and on -the-job training for employees and coaching employees.Supervises the processing of market participants' balanced schedules for resources and obligations of energy and ancillary services.Responsible for frequency control of the ERCOT electric system and deployment of ancillary services.Manages congestion on the transmission system and directs voltage control.Ensures all required information is posted and recorded for settlement, accounting and auditing.During abnormal operating conditions or system problems, evaluates the situation, directs and coordinates the solution with operating entities and market participates.Implements and coordinates time error corrections, operating condition notices, advisories, watches and emergency operations plans.Other duties as assigned.

Responsible for the Reliability and Security of the ERCOT power grid and the real time implementation of the ERCOT market.Operating Period Operator responsible for procuring balancing energy for the operating period. Forecasted the ERCOT load real time and monitored operating reserves for shortfalls.Transmission and Security Operator responsible for monitoring Real Time Contingency Analysis and managing Zonal and Local Transmission limits by re-dispatching the units available in the system or implementing remedial action plans or mitigation plans. Also manage ERCOT System voltages and real time outages (approved and forced) of ERCOT Transmission System lines and equipment. Implement as necessary Watches, Advisories, Operating Condition Notices, Emergency Notice and the Emergency Energy Alert Plan.Participated in NERC audits, ERCOT audits, Black Start Training, Winter Assessment Drill.

Started at TP&L - Waco 1979. Various positions from Utilityman(Lineman/Substationman) to a Trader in the TXU Energy Trading Organization - Dallas.

Responsible for economically scheduling generating units on and off line. Accountable for Schedule Control Error control, frequency control, and fleet optimization. Duties included:Ensured the TXU system met the real-time operation requirements for generation fleet responses to Automatic Generation control, load, ERCOT deployments, capability and reserve obligations.Realigned generators to manage transmission zonal congestion, unit specific deployments and verbal dispatches in response to ERCOT control area requirements.Interfaced with other entities for voltage control and gas resource utilization.Administered unit maximum capability tests and an accurate journal of events.Participated in cross training with the Qualified Scheduling Entity Coordinator (QSE) function and the Hourly Trader function.

Responsible for coordinating and supervising the twenty-four hour operations of the Energy Supply Operations Control Room. Duties included: Provide TXU Electric system load forecasting, unit commitment and scheduling.Implemented interruptible load notificationNegotiated off-system wholesale electricity purchase and sales transactions for physical flowCommunicated with management on changing system conditions.Implemented procedures and guidelines for real-time operationInterfaced with TXU Transmission, TXU Generating plants, TXU Gas Control, Cogeneration, Power Marketers and ERCOT to ensure reliable operation of the ERCOT Control Area.

Responsible for the economic and reliable operation of the TXU generation fleet within the TXU Electric Control Area, while complying with regulatory, contractual requirements and ERCOT obligations. Performed automatic generation control of the fleet and maintained area control error, frequency, and voltage requirements for the TXU Electric Control Area.Participated in cross training on the Transmission Security Desk and the North Texas Security Desk and performed duties in conjunction with these desks in order to maintain a reliable and economically proficient Bulk Power System for TXU Electric and ERCOT.

Monitored and restored as needed the Transmission (69KV-345KV) and the Distribution (24KV and below) system.Experience issuing switching orders for lines, circuit breakers and transformer banks.Opening and closing Distribution Feeders for electric restoration/routine maintenance.Dispatched Customer trouble tickets to servicemen for service restoration and repairs.Worked with minimal supervision in order to maintain an intact Transmission and Distribution System.

Participated in the Lineman Progression Apprentice program and advanced from a Utility man to an Advanced Senior Lineman and Substation man. Overall experience of Substation crews, Protection and Control Technician Helper (Electrician and Relay man's Helper). Extensive experience in maintenance, overhaul, trouble-shooting and new installation of 345KV, 138KV and 69KV lines, transformers and circuit breakers, and distribution voltage circuit breakers and regulators.
