About Greg Pitts
Gregory Pitts is a professor in the School of Journalism and Strategic Media (SoJSM) at Middle Tennessee State University. He also serves as vice president of ACEJMC, the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications. He is the former director of MTSU's SoJSM program, where he is responsible for core administrative functions in the accredited academic unit.In his previous position, he chaired the Department of Communications at the University of North Alabama and established the department's very first accreditation. Other leadership roles include serving as the Director of Faculty and Student Programs for the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE). He has been a media management trainer for the International Broadcasting Bureau. He is an active member of the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) and he completed the Journalism and Mass Communication Leadership Institute for Diversity (JLID) Fellowship through AEJMC. Pitts is the recipient of three Fulbright appointments (Zambia, Montenegro, Georgia) and three Fulbright Specialist appointments (twice to Ukraine and Liberia), as well as numerous international teaching and consulting visits.

CurrentHaving served 7.5 years as MTSU's Director of the School of Journalism and Strategic Media, I am pleased to report by my choice, I have returned to the faculty as a professor, engaged in teaching, research and service. Prior to MTSU, I served another 6 years as a department chair and 2 years as an associate chair. Enough. I've enjoyed the duties but am so pleased to have my life back as a faculty member to enjoy working with students and pursuing my professional and scholarly projects.
