The Solutions Architect is the ‘technical design’ brain of the Trust, supporting the Head of Solutions and Integration/Strategy to develop and implement the Trust’s Corporate Application Strategy and critical IT infrastructure, and managing the complex suite of solutions in use across the Trust. It is about plugging the IT into the organisation and ensuring a proper and effective alignment with strategic objectives through a high level of creativity and innovation. I seek to improve the adoption of technology and ensure that applications are rationalised, optimised, and integrated where possible and in line with Information Governance (IG) and security standards.

• Responsible for providing advice and support to the Trust on all matters arising with an IT requirement.• Responsible for liaising with the IT Service to ensure appropriate and cost effective IT solutions are provided.• Responsible for supporting projects where there is a requirement for IT change / enhancement• Responsible for advising on how the Trust can make better use of IT to support its business and have more efficient and effective ways of working• Responsible for ensuring the Trust has an appropriate IT procurement strategy• Responsible for monitoring the IT service provision provided, highlighting both areas of weakness and strength to ensure standards of service can be improved as required.• Attend meetings as required on behalf of the department and Trust where matters relating to IT will be discussed.• Responsible for assisting in the development of an environment which allows the Trust to use its Web Site and Intranet as a valuable resource

Devloping applications in VB.net (Windows phone), C++/Python/QT (Maemo, Meego and Symbian)

• Developing and maintaining standard hardware/software builds• Day to Day operational maintenance systems and applications, building and deploying application packages• Developing and maintaining test environments for the evaluation of hardware and software. At times offering operational support to test groups• Developing and maintaining documentation to support the adoption of the technology• To support maintenance of desktop and server standard images• To support maintenance of desktop infrastructure through solutions such as patch management• To provide second line computer hardware and software support to NHS sites in the Sussex area.• To support sites in the maintenance of existing computers and systems.• To assist in the development and work with best practice guidelines for the standardisation of installation and upgrades of operating systems.• To diagnose faults and to initiate remedial action.• To maintain records and documentation to appropriate standards.• To install/upgrade software and hardware as required.• To keep up to date with developments in personal computing and to summarise such development for other relevant staff. • To liaise with Technical Operations Group based in Sussex in order to keep up to date with current local and national projects.• To attend regular county wide technical briefings and team meetings as required.• To ensure, where possible, that the service users can continue to operate normally without disruptions from IT based failures
