Deputy Commander
City Of Country Club Hills Police Department
I worked as a Patrol Officer answering calls for service from 1994 through 1997. I was assigned to the Investigations Division from 1997 through 1998 and again from 2000 to 2009. During that time I was the unit supervisor and lead detective. In 2005, I was promoted to Sergeant and then managed the entire Investigations Division including all administrative responsibilities. During that time I found the need for and created a pre-assignment questioner for case reports to determine solvability rates. The questioner enabled me to reduce the case load for my investigators by up to 23% (+/-). The system became mandatory procedure and freed time for priority cases as well as encouraged self initiated investigations to occur. Responsibilities included but were not limited to: Coordination of everyday activities of the division including, review and assign all cases, creating work schedules and call-out schedules. I was responsible for the narcotics fund monies budgeting and asset forfeitures.I managed the entire firearms program budgeting ,inventory and all purchases including weapons and the cities ammunition inventory as well as scheduling range maintenance.Extensive training in interview and interrogation techniques including certificates from the Reid Institute. In May 2008 I was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commander. I worked with security vendors to design new wireless burglar and fire alarm systems for all interests of the city and all its associated buildings, city hall, police station and fire stations. I researched and guided the implementation of integrated, cost-efficient, physical security systems, CCTV, Access Control, Command Center, and Intrusion Detection & Alarm Systems. As the Director of operational security, I was also responsible to coordinate all security concerns specifically at our 2500 seat outdoor amphitheater, including staffing and scheduling as well as negotiating and approving all the associated bids and contracts.
