CurrentStarting in the founder’s garage, Discover Echo redefined traditional microscopy by creating the world's first hybrid microscope in 2016. With nearly 3,000 systems sold worldwide, Discover Echo microscopes can now be found in the laboratories of most major universities and pharmaceutical companies.• Responsible for all mechanical engineering efforts for new products, having expanded our product line from one microscope to five within seven years. These efforts were instrumental in growing revenue from $2M to $32M between 2017 and 2023 and a $110M acquisition of the company in 2021.• Lead mechanical engineer for development of the 2nd generation of our flagship product. Incorporating customer insights, manufacturing feedback, new technologies, and fresh industrial design ideas, we were able to launch an updated product that outperformed the previous generation, reduced production cost by 15%, and won a Red Dot Industrial Design Award.• Use SolidWorks to design mechanical components, assemblies, and customer-facing cosmetic parts, while integrating sensors, motors, and optical components.• Proficient in designing for various manufacturing methods such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, casting, and 3D printing.• Work closely with industrial designers to develop designs that meet aesthetic objectives, while also prioritizing functionality and manufacturability.• Partner with electrical and software engineers to ensure our goals remain aligned throughout the design phases.• Oversee SolidWorks PDM, documentation repositories, and engineering change management workflows.• Collaborate with contract manufacturers in China and Thailand to ensure parts and assemblies adhere to design specifications, provide training, and address manufacturing challenges.
