The Coastal Infrastructure Unit of Crown Lands NSW maintains the coastal harbours, trained river entrances and breakwaters along the length of the eastern coastline (from Tweed Heads to Eden).In the role of Project Engineer for Crown Lands, I have been focussed on two distinct types of tasks: minor maintenance activities relating to the Total Asset Management system, and small scale project and contract management.The first set of tasks involves site inspections, annual maintenance checks, and minor works (such as fender replacement on concrete wharves, failed pile removal, resurfacing of access roads and car parks).The second set of tasks involves dedicated project and contract management of specific projects with larger budgets (such as breakwater repairs, maintenance dredging and the upgrade of the harbour mooring facilities at Coffs Harbour and Ballina). These project management roles include generation and review of environmental impact assessments, evaluation of project risks, securing of required governmental permits and licenses, drafting of ministerial briefings, and community and stakeholder consultation.

I was specifically responsible for:• The development of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) to comply with ISO14001 standards;• The development of sampling programs to comply with EPL’s and consents;• Reporting of the AEMR, NPI, NGERS and Annual Return;• Compliance checks against relevant EPL and Project Approval; and• Coordinate environmental inspections and audits.I also undertook the development and completion of two AEMR’s for Energy Australia in a 3 week turn around.Invincible Colliery & Cullen Valley Mine – Oct 2012 to Dec 2013For over 12 months I provided assistance in the management of the day to day environmental operations at the Cullen Valley Mine and Invincible Colliery sites. I was specifically responsible for:• The development of land management strategies for the mine rehabilitation and biodiversity offset areas;• Liaise with regulatory bodies in regards to environmental issues;• Completion and reporting of the AEMR’s, NPI, NGERS and Annual Returns;• Ensure both mine sites comply with the relevant EPL’s and Project Approvals;• The development of the Pollution Incident Response Management Plan (PIRMP) in accordance with POEO Act and Regulation;• Coordinating site meetings and contribute to consultative committee meetings;• Coordinate environmental inspections and audits; and• Supervision of contractors and management of environmental project.

I also facilitated the training of the sampling and analytical team in the field of environmental awareness, Australian Standards, OH&S and NATA compliance.During my time at ALS, I increased the schedule of works by $500,000 through meaningful consultation of which enabled the job creation of 2 additional FTE roles.Major Clients included: Centennial Coal Western Operations; Coalpac Mining Operations; Blue Mountains City Council; Lithgow City Council; John Holland Construction; Reed Construction; Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort; Delta West Electricity; and AUS10 Quarries.Boggabri Coal Mine – Emergency Discharge Feb 2012 to April 2012Following a high intensity rainfall event on the 23 January 2012, Boggabri Coal Mine experienced a 30 year flood record, subsequent total mine inflow exceeded 900 ML. I coordinated an intense 6 week sampling program for the emergency discharge of which was completed successfully and to the satisfaction of the client and NSW EPA.My responsibilities included the management and co-ordination of all fill-in environmental samplers and the analysis conducted at Sydney Laboratory. Provide technical advice to Boggabri Coal & Downer EDI Engineering in regards to water treatment and licence compliance.
