My passion for public service began while attending high school when I joined national ski patrol and overthe years one of my life goals is to be appointed into an emergency management position to help mitigatedisasters response to local communities. As a Paramedic, I expanded my role in emergency response to include instructing preparedness skills, emergency preparedness mitigation, and emergencycommunications. This expanded role helped me develop my interest in a more global emergency response career pathway. My experience as a paramedic, behavioral analyst, business management allows myself to provide unique skill sets to the emergency management community.My time as the program coordinator with Humboldt County Sheriff has led to my ability to be entrustedas the Planning and Logistics Section Chief for major disasters such as: earthquake response and recovery, wildfire evacuations, winter storm debris management, and COVID-19 response. While deployed as a section chief, I quickly recognized the need to manage resources efficiently, thus I developed cloud-based incident action plan (IAP) spreadsheet and Adobe Acrobat that included dynamic formulas, automatic imported data, geographic information systems dashboards, and pivot tables. I have managed concurrent emergency’s such as wildfire response while maintaining COVID EOC response. I have onboarded and cross trained EOC staff to manage concurrent disasters and have assisted operational area partners in the movement towards standardized ICS documentation and management. I was able to perform my duties as the section chief while maintaining my program coordinator duties in managing multiple grants, instruct CERT classes, and develop a new emergency auxiliary communications team.I have managed numerous seasonal and disaster challenges and with my experience, I was able tomaintain and strengthen Humboldt counties relationship with federal, state, and local departments.
