I was the volunteer lead for Chicago's migrant influx at the 19th District Police Station, where migrants are temporarily staying until their transition to city-run shelters. I worked with local elected officials, other volunteer leads across the city, and corporate partners to coordinate meal deliveries, facilitate supply donations, enlist & coordinate volunteers, and support fundraising efforts.

Researched and wrote about the creation of an international certification system for humanitarian workers. My research was included in the scoping study "Professionalising the Humanitarian Sector." This study sets out key recommendations that could increase accountability, raise the quality of humanitarian service, and raise the status of the humanitarian service provider to a level on a par with other professional groups.

Worked on the programming and assistance for Tibetan refugees in Nepal, which included monitoring and evaluation trips to remote settlements. Facilitated the resettlement of Bhutanese refugees to the United States, by collaborating with UNHCR and IOM.

Managed the Fulbright Teacher Exchange for 5 European countries, including oversight of our implementing partner in the United States. Performed grants management work on awards totaling over $2,000,000.

Opened the Quito office of Asylum Access, created case management and filing protocol for future casework, and helped clients seeking refugee status in Ecuador. Ensured that refugees were aware of and knew how to assert their rights under Ecuadoran law.

Prepared and filed humanitarian- and employment-based legal documents for clients. Researched and filed indexes detailing human rights conditions in our clients’ countries of origin during asylum cases.

Researched country conditions and prepared supporting documents for asylum applicants from Africa. Performed client screening to determine eligibility for legal representation in asylum proceedings.
