Greg has practiced IP law for more than 50 years. He is a graduate of Seton Hall University and Fordham University School of Law. He had previously worked at Grumman Aerospace on the Apollo and F-14 program, the U.S. Attorney’s Office; Morgan & Finnegan; Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto and Gulf + Western Industries before co-founding Grimes & Battersby in 1984. He formed The Battersby Law Group, LLC in May 2013.Greg has extensive experience in all facets of IP law, including litigation, prosecution and transactional matters. He has substantial experience in big case litigation, including patent and product liability actions and has negotiated and drafted thousands of license agreements in the product development, patent, trademark and merchandising fields. He has been qualified in more than 35 cases as an expert witness on licensing and valuation issues.Greg has written more than 35 books, including The Law of Merchandise & Character Licensing; License Agreements: Forms and Commentary; and the Basics of Licensing series for LIMA. He is an Executive Editor of the Licensing Journal and IP Litigator and is the legal columnist for Total Licensing. He has given more than 200 talks on IP and licensing issues before such diverse groups PLI, INTA, LIMA, AIPLA, LES, NYIPLA, NJIPLA, and at UCONN and Franklin Pierce Law Schools. He has moderated programs at the NY Toy Fair, Book Expo and Licensing Expos in New York, Las Vegas, Croatia and Russia.Since 2007, he has been a "Super Lawyer" in the Connecticut and New England in intellectual property.Greg has been General Counsel to LIMA since 1995 and is a member of its Executive Committee and chair of its Education Committee. In 2009, he was inducted into LIMA's Licensing Hall of Fame- its only practicing attorney. He was a member of the NYIPLA's Board and an officer.
