Human Resources Manager
CurrentAdminister the human resource management functions in the areas of classification and compensation, career banding, employee and employer relations, salary administration, recruitment and fair employment practices, workers’ compensation, state employee benefits, safety, employee development and training, organizational analysis, and employee assistance.Develop, evaluate, and reviews plans and criteria for a variety of HR projects and activities; assess feasibility of staff and/or management proposals. Update plans and priorities to coincide with goals, vision and expectations of management.Collaborate on planning and policy development with other executive management.Identify HR strategies and program requirements needed to foster and maintain a progressive work culture in support of effective recruitment, development, and retention.Advise management on strategic organizational and HR issues.Work pro-actively with managers and supervisors to develop strategies for the resolution of human resource problems such as inappropriate employee behavior and special performance issues, retention issues, weak supervisory skills, etc.Supervise the HR office staff by hiring the most qualified applicants to fill HR vacancies, developing measurable performance plans, providing positive support to employees on developing competencies, recommending salary increases based on competencies achieved, and initiating corrective or disciplinary action when necessary.
