During the start-up phase of clinical trials, my team and I engage with our investigators, project managers, pharmacists, lab specialists, other supporting departments to ensure proper budget coverage for trial-related activity. We then negotiate these trial budgets with the protocol sponsors and contract research organizations. Once trials are open, we continue to develop and negotiate budget revisions necessitated by amendments to the clinical trial protocol. Upon finalizing the budgets with sponsors and CROs, I also build these budgets and financial parameters in our clinical trial management system (OnCore). This information is used by our institution's post-award staff to ensure proper revenue and expense recognition.We are also responsible for various administrative tasks related to clinical trials, such as submitting contracts to our Office of Sponsored Programs, subawards, purchase orders requisitions, and others as needs arise.

My main responsibility is the development and negotiation of budgets for clinical oncology trials. This includes acting as point of contact between clinical research teams and pharmaceutical companies, ensuring budgets are compliant with billing stands, facilitating smooth and efficient flow of study-related documents through University of Pittsburgh's Office of Research and UPMC's Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Support (OSPARS), and providing support to post-award staff after study execution.I have also been involved with interviewing candidates, developing training materials, and special projects, as needed.
