Greg Leeson is an electrical design engineering consultant specializing in CCD and CMOS camera design, as well as other aspects of digital imaging systems. He has over 25 years of experience in the design of instrumentation for the scientific and medical commercial markets. After receiving a BS in Engineering Physics from the University of Illinois and an MS in Physics from the University of Minnesota, Mr. Leeson spent ten years doing analog circuit design in the field of nuclear spectroscopy at Nuclear Data Inc. in Chicago, IL. He was then recruited by Aspect Electronics in Silicon Valley to lead the design efforts on medical image recorders and other peripheral devices for ultrasound and nuclear imaging. Mr. Leeson then joined Duncan Technologies where he worked on a numerous optoelectronic devices including laser drivers, spectrometers and CCD cameras. He has been a consulting engineer for the past 15 years.Highlights:- Worked under NASA contract designing multispectral cameras.- Developed a 3D camera for dental scanning that replaces traditional dental impressions.- Developed the electronics for a miniature Raman spectrometer for blood glucose analysis.- Developed a camera for very low light imaging used in DNA sequencing.Mr. Leeson has maintained a lifelong interest in engineering and the sciences, has actively pursued mentoring and teaching, and has worked as a part-time physics instructor at the junior college level. He currently resides in the Sierra Nevada foothills where he and his wife enjoy hiking, paddling, birding and fly-fishing.
