This license is earned after a rigorous full-time two year training, qualification, and evaluation program.As a Nuclear Power Plant Unit Supervisor, my duties include:Directing the moment to moment operations of the facility.Directing the performance of routine tests of emergency systems.Directing the response to abnormal and emergency conditions.Directing the startup and shutdown of the unit, as well as power changesDirecting the performance of routine tasks and evolutions that support normal plant operations and maintenance.Ensuring compliance with federal regulations concerned with Nuclear and Industrial Safety, Environmental compliance, and work hour limits.Reviewing work schedules in the planning phase to balance: Staffing, workload, inter-department coordination, and maintenance & modification priorities.For subordinates, setting development, productivity and work quality goals, and reviewing performance.Unit Supervisors also perform 'Work Control Supervisor' duties, which include:Writing or reviewing lock out/tag out clearance orders, in order to ensure worker safety.Directing the performance of lock-out / tagout clearance orders, and the restoration of equipment afterwards.Monitoring the performance of workers by reviewing completed work orders.Performing field observations of workers to promote and ensure the highest standards.Classifying work requests for priority, regulatory impact, and required conditions for repair.Reviewing prepared work orders for accuracy and nuclear safety impact.Pushing and tracking adherence to Scheduled work.Coordinating field work between various departmentsAuthorizing the commencement of workReviewing completed work orders Show less
