Lead the North Houston District, a local management district, with a staff of 13 and a budget of $5.3 million. Responsible for leading a volunteer Board of Directors and setting policy and program direction in the areas of public safety, planning and infrastructure, park and green space development, financial and support services and marketing and public affairs. Work extensively with other local government organizations to advocate for, and partner on, projects that benefit the District and its property owners and residents.

Served as a member of Houston Public Library’s Executive Leadership Team. Led the Communications Division, with a staff of 10. Responsible for the overall branding, messaging and positioning of the Houston Public Library. Operational responsibilities included Government Relations, Public/ Media Relations, Marketing/Promotion, Internal Communications, Branding and Design, Print Shop operations, Grant Management, Strategic Planning and Evaluation, Customer Comment tracking and policy development and management.

Served as a member of Houston Public Library’s Executive Leadership Team. Responsibilities included Government Relations, which included serving as City Council Liaison, advising the Director on political issues/strategy and researching and analyzing state legislation affecting libraries; Management of the Library’s Strategic Planning and Evaluation process; Internal Communication of issues considered and decisions made by the Executive Leadership Team and Director’s Cabinet, and management of the Library’s Customer Satisfaction/Complaint process.

Primary responsibilities included managing the Library’s short and long-term strategic planning process, including statistical data collection and demographic analysis, and using this data to monitor progress on the strategic plan and assist the Director and other executive staff in decision making for the Library System. Responsibilities also included creating and implementing annual Customer Surveys and managing yearly and monthly usage statistical reporting. Other major responsibilities included serving as the Library’s City Council Liaison and advising the Director on political and media issues.

Primary responsibilities included management of the Administrative Services Group, which included four work processes related to nuisance abatement and dangerous buildings. This included explaining administrative procedures and legal requirements for these processes to citizens, researching problem cases for the Acting Assistant Director, responding to requests for information from the general public, City Council members and other public officials, and researching and coordinating special projects for the Acting Assistant Director.

Responsibilities included supervising the work of 8-10 Community Liaisons who provided constituent services on behalf of the Mayor of Houston. Also responsible for managing and coordinating two projects for the Mayor: producing the Mayor’s Directory of Civic Associations and coordinating the follow-up effort to the Mayor’s Town Hall Meetings.
