I am currently Deputy General Counsel at Relay, Inc. in Raleigh, NC responsible for global Intellectual Property. My primary objective is to add enterprise value through the acquisition and prosecution of patents and trademarks. I'm also responsible for coordinating with others on open source policies, IP transactions, and IP litigation. My approach relies on close communication and strategic planning with executive leadership as well as the business development, operations, and engineering teams to identify and protect relevant areas to our business. My focus includes current operations as well as future innovations. I have been practicing IP law since 1995 following a stint as a Patent Examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. My practice covers many facets of IP law including strategic IP planning, patent prosecution, patent litigation, technology licensing, software licensing, trademark and trade secret law.
