+ Created brand for new gardening club and corresponding magazine from initial conception.+ Collaborated with the Editor-in-Chief to develop a variety of ways to present complex and/or technical material, blending text and supporting artwork (photographs, illustrations, diagrams, charts, lists, sidebars, etc.) into clear and compelling layouts.+ Designed and laid out each issue from cover to cover on a monthly basis.+ Contributed titles, headlines, and captions. Participated in the editorial brainstorming sessions for each issue, suggesting and implementing ways to present themes and subjects more clearly. + Directed photo shoots and contributed photography.+ Recruited and supervised freelance photographers and illustrators. + Designed advertising and marketing materials. Created brand-specific looks for seven different companies, and designed print advertisements for each brand in each issue.

+ Led a team of five Graphic Designers while managing a workflow of over 40 books and magazines. Delegated work so that each artist’s strengths were utilized to the benefit of the entire department. Coached staff collectively and individually to ensure quality standards were met. + Contributed with art direction and design on several Dreamworks-licensed books for children, including Robots: The Movie, Ice Age I & II, Zathura, and Over The Hedge, as well as with Games, a magazine for puzzle and game enthusiasts. + Designed and art directed several “one-shot” magazines, including A Tribute to Elvis Presley, A Tribute to Johnny Cash, and Chicago White Sox: 2005 World Champions. + Conducted interviews and hired new artists as positions were vacated. + Fostered communication between Art Department, Editorial Department, Production Manager, and company President in order to improve both workflow and final product.

+ Considered to be a leader and was promoted to Sr. Designer. Supervised and trained several artists. Performed lead role for nearly all new projects.+ Designed covers, story layouts, advertisements, and logos for several international sports magazines, including The Ring, KO, World Boxing, Pro Wrestling Illustrated, and Last Lap. + Created original designs for new publications and improved design of existing ones, thus helping to generate additional revenue for the company. + Worked under pressure and with short turnaround while maintaining close communication with editorial staff.
