I persuaded my parents to sign me up for Cub Scouts back in the 2nd Grade. No idea why - to borrow a phrase from my dad, it “sounded like a good idea at the time.” Progressed through Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and earned my Eagle Scout rank.Then life happened. College. Married my high school sweetheart. Had some great kids.And of course, when my son hit the 2nd Grade, he took an interest to being a Cub Scout too.Why? As he told everybody proudly - “My dad is an Eagle Scout!”So, I signed him up. And I was selected to be the coordinator for the den. The Cub Leader always asked if there’d be anyone interested in being Cubmaster, to which I politely declined, citing that he was much better with the boys than I. And to a large degree, he was - mostly because he had had a lot of practice.As my son moved through Cub Scouting and into Boy Scouting, I found myself getting a little practice of my own.More to come…
