While working at Fairview I facilitate 3-4 recreational and leisure activities per day with adolescents in our partial hospitalization program. I develop and implement unit-wide recreational opportunities for the adolescents to engage in as a group. I also facilitate 1:1 recreational activities with patients who require individualized programming. I conduct strengths-based leisure assessments with individual patients upon arrival into the program and I utilize those results to plan/implement activities that are congruent with patient-identified interests and abilities. I teach leisure education and relay information about community-based programming to patients participating in the program in order to further connect them with their surrounding communities. I work on a multidisciplinary rehab team where I regularly coordinate with Music Therapy, Art Therapy, and Chemical Health services to co-facilitate groups that focus on multidimensional wellness and recovery. I assist with code situations and high acuity patients in need of further staff support. I supervise the unit daily to ensure safety and accountability of all patients in the program. I have familiarized myself with all infection control policies and procedures implemented as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and have focused on providing individual, self-directed leisure activity opportunities for residents.

While working for MICC I facilitated recreation and leisure opportunities necessary for individuals to both thrive and remain living independently within their community. I coordinated structured social, community, and wellness activities for young adults living with ASD. I participated in ASD trainings and continuing education in-services in order to provide the most up-to-date, competent care to the individuals I worked with.

I facilitated adapted recreational activities for adults living with severe and persistent mental illness in a residential treatment facility. I utilized community resources in order to reintegrate the population I served back into their community and prepared them to live a more independent lifestyle. I conducted strengths-based assessments in order to identify the needs and interests of the residents that I served. I managed, on average, a 6 resident caseload in which I was responsible for coordinating the care of each individual I worked with. I am capable of teaching leisure and recreation skills in a variety of different treatment settings as well as enhancing resident's current leisure lifestyles based on their varying needs and abilities. I worked within an interdisciplinary team that provided quality physical and mental health services to our residents in an ethical and non-discriminatory fashion. I am currently certified by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification and I am familiar with their current job tasks in order to successfully supervise interns and remain up-to-date in the field.

I spearheaded the grant-funded Sleep Well program through Andrew Residence. I independently researched, designed, and implemented a facility-wide assessment. I collected the results from assessment and utilized them to implement therapeutic interventions and programs aimed at improving the quality of sleep for individuals with varying mental health diagnoses. I coordinated quality improvement groups to allocate funds towards quality services and evidenced-based interventions. I attended continuing education seminars in order to further advance knowledge of mental health diagnoses and their impact on quality sleep.
