I served as a principal research associate and project manager for a research group that characterizes pavement and building envelope technologies and investigates their potential to reduce building energy use, improve the urban environment, safeguard public health, and adapt to warming climates.Recent projects include evaluation of emerging building technologies, field observations and climate modeling of local heat islands in the Los Angeles Basin, climate modeling and cost-benefit analysis of urban heat island countermeasures to inform regional planning in Kansas City, and development of a software tool to aid climate action planning for California cities on the life cycle impacts of pavement management decisions.I managed multiple research projects simultaneously; identified and developed strategic partnerships; and led technical assistance efforts to aid stakeholders in the development of programs, projects, and policies. I advised local, state and national government officials; school districts; manufacturers; real estate developers; construction trades; non-profits; and the public. I was responsible for the group's outreach and communication activities, including training courses; websites; exhibits; guides; curriculum; and development of presentations for conferences, meetings, and webinars.

Worked on implementing sustainability strategies including a sustainable lifestyle campaign "Footsteps Towards Progress" and the NYC Green Building Competition.
