I also conduct storm water sampling that involves collecting water quality samples and stream flow data, operating automated sampling equipment, maintaining databases and field logs, and tracking samples. I serve as the lab manager by coordinating sample pick up and associated sampling procedures. In charge of ordering new materials or equipment and documenting the ownership of the item. I maintain consumable material inventory and property management. As a scientist, I conduct research in order to identify, abate or eliminate pollutants and hazards to the environment. I write technical reports based on research, investigation, or analysis. I also schedule and conduct inspections and/or investigations.I ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and or standards and guidelines. I analyze, summarize and/or review data, report findings, and interpret results. I develop environmental test methodology, determines placement of sampling equipment, maintains and calibrates equipment and evaluates instrumentation for effectiveness. Lastly I submit written summaries of monthly activities and participate in discussions, conferences, and management reviews. My job includes me reviewing and interpreting proposed environmental regulations and amendments to assess their impact on GSFC; plan and implement proactive management plans to meet GSFC goals and objectives.
