I spent 29 years with the same company. I started as a dishwasher in high school and worked my way to General Manager within that period. I led my restaurant to be in the top 2 % of customer service scores nationwide. As General Manager, I oversaw human resources, including interviewing, hiring, and training of employees. I oversaw the profit and loss in my store. I took daily, weekly, and monthly inventories. I managed the food orders. I was responsible for ensuring my store was always ready for various inspections, including health and corporate inspections. During that time, I also worked as a school-aged teacher at a local daycare facility after I completed my associate degree in elementary education. I spent about ten years at that job. I had to leave that job when I became pregnant with my son and needed a job that offered benefits, which the daycare at that time did not. In 2019, I left the restaurant business when I moved to a different area of the state. I was hired as an infant teacher at a large childcare facility. I have since returned to college to complete my associate's degree in early childhood education and child development. I have also completed my Infant and Toddler credential through the Illinois Gateways to Opportunity, as well as my ECE Level 1 and 2 credentials. I am certified in CPR, Infant CPR, and First Aid.
