Heather Coons is a native of the desert Southwest. After completing higher education in El Paso, TX, she worked for five years with the local community college as a historical writer, editor and photographer. She also worked on the school's local history project, spending time in El Paso Community College's television studio conducting interviews local movers, shakers, business professionals and politicians, both past and present. Coons also worked in the college's library, assisting in educational development and grant oversight, as well as providing one-on-one assistance in English 1302, Research and Critical Writing. As an advocate for education, Coons has provided high-risk intervention for high school students falling behind in reading and writing.She has also sat on a local school board's Special Education Inclusion Committee.With more than forty published pieces spanning across the fiction and nonfiction genres, Coons has received five-star reviews, and her work has been critiqued by professionals as "masterfully written." Coons' has been nominated by the El Paso Women's Fund as "A Person to be Admired," and has had a scholarship given out in her name.
