Since my first involvement in 1995 this property investment groupe has concentrated in out of town retail and commercial property investment. A significant portion of the portfolio is sited on previously brownfield sites which have been developed and let, often with a supermarket anchor. The Group's significant growth has been achieved by setting and adhering to key objectives appropriate to the business, particularly in relation to the recurring income targets, combined with a conservative gearing policy.

I returned from Hong Kong to the UK in 1994 to take up Partnership in my family’s accounting firm, and was appointed Managing Director of Harold Sharp Limited on incorporation of the Harold Sharp partnership in August 2017. In 2021, ETL took a stake in the business and we became part of the ETL network, but the firm retained and will continue to retain a high degree of employee ownership. Harold Sharp has a fantastic 50-strong team with digital technology at the heart of its strategy. In my client work, I advised on my favourite sector, Real Estate. With a strong property team behind me, our rounded knowledge of the sector and specifically taxation proved essential and invaluable to clients. I was able to provide holistic and practical advice on not only corporate tax, but income tax, trusts, inheritance tax and capital gains tax. My aim was to cut complexity for clients including Family Offices, and providing an outsourced solution to their accountancy and reporting requirements.By working with Family Offices to understand their generational, financial and philanthropic wishes I helped to formulate strategy to carry out key objectives and ensure long term stability.

I was a Trustee and Treasurer of Cheshire Community Foundation, a pro bono role. Cheshire Community Foundation aims to inspire philanthropy, build local endowment and invest in the local community. We worked closely with donors to make their philanthropy fun whilst achieving maximum impact by strategic grant-making. We operate donor advised funds and endowments for businesses and individuals within the Foundation to enable giving to the local community.

Oakfield Wealth Management Limited was an Independent Financial Adviser. As a Shareholder and Director of Oakfield Wealth Management Limited, and a qualified independent financial adviser, I combined my taxation and accountancy knowledge with financial planning for family offices and private wealth management. This assisted family companies and trusts where corporate tax, income tax, inheritance tax, investment planning, retirement planning and the retention of family wealth all interplay. In 2018 we sold Oakfield to Chase de Vere and I ceased her role with this company.

Working with the Board, I led the risk assessment function across Asia, Australia and North West America for Jardine Matheson and its subsidiaries, Jardine Pacific and Hong Kong Land. Heather’s achievements included assessing key exposures for the Board and making recommendations to improve financial and operational controls in such varied businesses as contracting in Bangkok, supermarket operations in Taiwan, joint ventures with LVMH and Diageo in Tokyo, hotel operations in Jakarta and food franchises in Hawaii.
