Review of all inpatient and observation admissions to the MCS medical-surgical unit. Admission criteria, treatment, plan of care, and appropriate resource utilization were areas of my review. I was responsible for obtaining insurance authorization for all admissions, as well as help facilitate discharge planning and post-discharge follow-up. I accompanied attending physicians with morning rounds in effort to more efficiently coordinate care. This position fell under Nursing Administration, which required my attendance/participation in administrative activities, as well my participation in the hospital-wide nursing administrative call rotation. Additionally, I continued to float to ambulatory surgical services as needed/available. My departure from this position and transfer Utilization Management at MCH Bowling Green campus was related to by being a full-time DNP student, as this endeavor required a great deal of my time. Therefore, I desired less hours and less responsibilities in effort to successfully complete the DNP-FNP program.

In December 2003, I began my career at MCH Scottsville on the Medical-Surgical unit. In mid-2004, I transferred to the Emergency Department, where I remained until 2016. During the span of 2004-2016, I floated among the ED, Surgical Services Department (pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-anesthesia unit), as well as assisted with both urological and interventional pain satellite clinics. In 2016, I transferred to the position of Utilization Management/Care Coordinator at MCH- Scottsville campus.
