My knowledge of the office management field began when I was 13 years old, learning from the business my mother owned. What started out as a mom taking her daughter to work developed into my love for the financial aspect of business. I began as a secretary at my mother's company, Jernigan's Fire Sprinkler Company, briefly managed Home Building Center and Just Ask Rental until the owner decided to retire, enjoyed 4 1/2 years with Young's Electric and after achieving my maximum potential with the company, I decided it was time to make a change. I started a new journey with Metcon and grew tremendously during my 4 1/2 years with the company. A friend and ex-coworker called me with a potential job with Barnhill Contracting and within a few years I received a vast education on the role of a Project Engineer. Within the company I had the opportunities to advance my career by working on projects such a as Bailey’s Fine Jewelry at Fenton in Cary, NC, East End Raleigh, CommonDesk of Raleigh, multiple projects at the Caterpillar Plant in Clayton, NC, AgBiome, multiple Truist Bank upfits, 400H - which is a 22-story high rise, multi use building in Raleigh, NC that houses parking decks, office/retail/restaurant spaces, condos, and penthouses - a business school at UNC, an elementary school, and much more, as well as superintending Carolina Dance Center which was an up-fit from an old Planet Fitness to a 6-studio dance center. During all of this I was simultaneously handling financial documentation back and forth with subcontractors and my project managers to the point that we were used as an example for the company as what the accounting department expected from the rest of our division. After my experience at Barnhill, I decided I was better suited for the financial aspects of the industry and came on as the Construction Billing Administrator for Comfort Mechanical Contractors where I am looking forward to growing and expanding my knowledge within the company and the Mechanical Industry.
