Literacy Subject Leader - For Eyfs And Primary Ks1; Primary Teacher Ks1/Ks2

Laude Newton College

Elche, Valencian Community, Spain

Reception Teacher and Literacy Coordinator, EYFS & KS1. I have acquired a wide range of skills liaising closely with the Early Years/KS1 Director, SLT and Curriculum Team. A crucial part of my role has been to improve the standards of reading, writing, speaking and communication by coordinating actions and initiatives across the Early Years Foundation stages and Key Stage 1 curriculum. Since integrating the innovative and interactive Talk for Writing approach to teaching writing, both pupils & teachers have demonstrated great enthusiasm and support in incorporating this highly motivating approach. Children, through daily repetition, are internalising high-level vocabulary which enables them to retell stories using drama & roleplay, with the structured model and aim of creating confident, imaginative and effective writers. As in all areas of Literacy, this includes the on-going tracking of children’s progress by setting targets, cold and hot tasks for assessment purposes as well as recording a wide range of digital evidence. Our school curriculum also leaned towards creating a classroom culture that is supportive of technology use. I have always adapted to technology with a positive and inquisitive approach, particularly over the last two years when remote learning replaced the traditional classroom environment. Google Classroom and Zoom platforms were adopted by the school, alongside a variety of creative, educational applications and tools to enhance learning skills, motivation and engagement. Our ISP School’s practices, also ensured ongoing CPD during this period with the clear aim of continued development in providing effective and engaging classes through careful planning, differentiated instruction and technology tools, such as video conferencing as well as interactive virtual and innovative educational applications.
