Heather Gardens is a small fine gardening company based in the Amherst, Massachusetts area. Our company specializes in designing, installing and maintaining beautiful gardens with perennials, annuals, trees and shrubs.We are passionate about designing and installing cottage gardens, naturalistic gardens, pollinator gardens, woodland gardens and cutting gardens. We work closely with our clients to understand your vision, preferences and budget, and bring these desires to fruition by creating gardens that you will find tranquility, beauty and enjoyment in for years to come

I worked for private clients planting, tending to, and harvesting their vegetable, permaculture and perennial gardens. This position focused on vegetable garden care, pruning of cane fruits and fruit trees and medicinal herb garden care.

I was the gardener for one of Seeds of Solidarity's Grow Food Everywhere public gardens. I tended the vegetable gardens, painted signs, and educated people about the food they could harvest from these gardens and offered tips on various easy ways to prepare the veggies.

I interned for a year with Seeds of Solidarity to learn their no-till farming methods for growing organic garlic and vegetables. We began in the fall, planting garlic for weeks. We resumed in the early winter starting seeds in their greenhouse, and tending seedlings. In the spring, we filled the greenhouses and fields with seedlings which we tended through the season. We harvested produce to sell at their farm stand. In summer, we harvested thousands of garlic bulbs and cured them to later sell at the North Quabbin Garlic and Arts Festival.
