Heather A. Kmetz is a tax lawyer focused on assisting high-net-worth individuals develop and implement tax-sensitive wealth preservation plans and business transactions. She also serves as outside corporate counsel for a variety of closely-held businesses, helping them to develop and transition their business. Licensed to practice in Oregon and Washington, Heather is a member of the American Bar Association, the Oregon State Bar, the Washington State Bar Association and the Multnomah Bar Association. She is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court. She is active in regional charitable and civic work, currently serving as President of the Portland'5 Centers for the Arts Foundation, as a member of the Northwestern University Alumni Admissions Council, and on the executive board for the Portland Tax Forum. She served for eight years on the Oregon State Bar Taxation Section Executive Committee, including as Chair, and remains active on the planning committee for the Oregon Tax Institute.Heather earned a degree in journalism from Northwestern University and pursued a career in nonprofit development and public relations prior to receiving her law degree and a federal certificate in taxation from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College.
