I write and edit for FranklinCovey's weekly manager newsletter — and I launched a weekly newsletter for individual contributors that has grown to 60,000 global subscribers. I own lineups, analytics, engagement, and audience research; edit articles from staff and freelancers; and create features, assessments, videos, and audio stories. I've also helped design FranklinCovey curricula on business writing, unconscious bias, trust, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," and other topics. I designed my team's editorial calendaring system, led a clean-up of our skills taxonomy, and collaborated with web developers on UX writing, page layouts, and adapting stories across platforms. I've also executed large-scale library and content management projects.

As Lead Writer & Editor for global marketing at IDEO, a human-centered design firm, I crafted case studies, thought leadership pieces, all-staff newsletters, and internal communications that spanned IDEO's portfolios: health, mobility, education, food, AI, and more. I also implemented editorial strategy, explored new story formats and promotional avenues, and developed tools to track the marketing calendar and editorial guidelines for designers and new staff.

I authored feature stories, infographics, and blog series on conservation, clean energy, and environmental justice for this leading nonprofit environmental law firm. I oversaw front- and back-of-the-book production for Earthjustice Quarterly Magazine, sent to more than 100,000 donors. And I established the firm’s first fact-checking program, designing the curriculum and training staff in fact-checking techniques.

I founded and led Healthline's health news division, hiring and managing staff and freelance writers, setting the editorial calendar, designing editorial workflows, writing and editing news stories, tracking budget, and working closely with the social media and design teams. I helped grow the publication into a trusted daily source for breaking stories and in-depth features that attracted more than 500,000 readers a month in 2015 and syndicated stories to Yahoo Health, Fox News, and Business Insider. I also edited a 15,000-word feature series on antibiotic-resistant bacteria by reporter Brian Krans.

I fact-checked feature pieces, pitched and drafted event write-ups, and wrote short front-of-the-book items. During the internship, I also blogged for Road Journals at viamagazine.com and built online event listings using Drupal.

As a staff writer, I produced features on state, national, and international politics. I published pieces on nuclear proliferation, the growth of the national deficit, and the 2010 midterm elections. As California editor, I supervised all aspects of design, writing, and production for my section of the magazine. I also assisted with layout in InDesign.

I published articles on campus and community events in Berkeley, CA, including demonstrations, local governance, and the University of California's system-wide budget crisis. While studying abroad in Madrid, Spain I maintained a Wordpress travel blog with original research and photographs.

Working in Dr. Laurie Wilkie's lab, I investigated and cataloged a time capsule buried in 1891 beneath St. Francis de Sales Cathedral in Oakland, CA.

I authored 20 stories, including the July 31, 2009 front page piece "Long Road to Live a Dream." Throughout the internship, I arranged interviews, attended and reported on local events, developed features and human interest pieces, worked with staff editors, and shadowed senior staff writers and photographers.
