The American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) upholds the highest standards of board certification for physicians in 3 primary specialties – aerospace medicine, occupational medicine, general preventive medicine & public health – and 4 subspecialties – addition medicine, clinical informatics, undersea & hyperbaric medicine and medical toxicology. I work with ABPM’s Executive Director and staff to ensure the rigor and relevance of ABPM initial certifications and continuing certifications for the ABPM’s 12,000+ board-certified physicians, the public, and a wide array of other stakeholders. The Board does this through ongoing positive, direct relationships primarily with the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and our fellow ABMS Boards, the American Medical Association, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, the Aerospace Medical Association, the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the American College of Preventive Medicine, the American Medical Informatics Association, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society, and the American College of Medical Toxicology. Activities include supervising examination development and content review, building strategic initiatives, setting agendas, running board meetings, assuring stakeholder needs are addressed and representing the organization to others. The Board sustains interactions with numerous professional medical societies, academic societies, and the full range of regulatory bodies that govern medical education, licensure, and certification throughout the United States.

AsMA is the premier medical association for Aerospace Medicine professionals. AsMA is a scientific forum for many different disciplines to come together and share their expertise for the benefit of all persons involved in air and space travel. The Association provides its expertise to a multitude of Federal and international agencies on a broad range of issues, including aviation and space medical standards, the aging pilot, and physiological stresses of flight. AsMA's membership includes aerospace medicine specialists, flight nurses, physiologists, psychologists, human factors specialists, physician assistants, and researchers in this field. Most are with industry, civil aviation regulatory agencies, departments of defense and military services, the airlines, space programs, and universities.
